CHANGING THE PERCEPTION OF SENIOR LIVING
“Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that is naturally present in very few foods, added to others and available as a dietary supplement. It is also produced endogenously when ultraviolet rays from sunlight strike the skin and trigger vitamin D synthesis. Vitamin D obtained from sun exposure, food and supplements is biologically inert and must undergo two hydroxylations in the body for activation.”
“A high-dose regimen of vitamin D helps reduce the risk of bone fractures in seniors, according to an article published in the July 5 issue of the New England Journal of Medicine.”
It seems to me that getting supplements to the right aged people could save millions in health care costs. I wonder how this plays out in other countries…. I am not a medical type, so does anyone have some ideas?
